Claudia was an avid reader as a child, who would want nothing more than to spend with the characters in her books from her loved town library. Although life led her down a different path, her dream of becoming a writer never faded.

Years later, while raising her three children, she returned to university to earn a second degree, this time in Creative Writing, taking ten years to complete it as she paused to welcome each child into her family. She later earned her MFA in Creative Writing at the age of sixty, proving that dreams don't have an expiration date. Her motto is simple: If you don't try, you'll never know.

​

When she's not writing, Claudia enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, practising yoga, reading, knitting, and taking leisurely walks. She loves the changing seasons outside her home in Montreal, taking writing pauses by staring out her home office window finding inspiration from the movement of the red maple tree in the summer, and snow-covered branches in the winter. She's also accepted that the squirrels have claimed ownership of the fruit trees in her backyard.

Giving back is an important part of Claudia's life. She founded the Francisco Klein Equine Fund, named after her grandfather and the protagonist of her debut novel, to help horse owners facing financial hardship. She also co-runs a free bridal gown loan service for brides who otherwise couldn't afford a wedding dress.

 

Claudia believes the past helps us better understand both ourselves and one another. Her novels explore how ordinary people respond to extraordinary circumstances with courage, resilience, and hope.

Claudia lives in Montreal with her husband, Gary, who affectionately calls her "the hardest-working wife." She loves spending time with her three children, their spouses, grandchildren, and her loyal writing companion, Pepita, her adorable Maltese dog.
